So what's new in RC1? will based on some reviews I've read through the net; here are some:
- RC1 is noticeably more stable and offers dramatically better performance than does Beta 2.
- Games, suddenly, work just fine. Microsoft tells me that it expects Windows Vista to run most video games as fast as does XP. Some tried "Half-Life 2"; which failed to work in Beta2, now it works on RC1 :D
- Vista's parental controls have been upgraded to be simpler to administer.
- User Account Control (UAC) has been substantially upgraded to be easier to use and less annoying. I remember in Beta1, to delete a single shortcut, UAC will give you 7 -yes that's right 7- popup windows before deleting it. But now it's much better.
- Windows Vista now fully supports both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray (BR-DVD) movies.
- .Net Framework 3 -used to be WinFX; thank God for renaming it- is included in RC1 by default. It would be interesting to see how it works.
- Windows Vista user experience is now as fast as that of Windows XP but "with more capability and consistent performance that won't degrade over time. Yeah yeah right we will see about that in the near future.
I'm sure there are more new features, sadly I don't have a copy of it, but would REALLY love to have one.

For some reason I'm not fancying the installation and use of Vista. It has to do with Ubuntu I believe :) It would be nice to have a VMware appliance of the latest RC1 release . Just for sake of "been there done that" :)
We shall test it @ BBK
installing it on a new DELL 580
check perforamnce...
:D Enjoy
As far as I can see... vista is just an XP with a new service pack and some new cool -some ugly- interface :)
Completely agree with you Boiling Ice. To me, all the points mentioned in the post do not account for any "special" thing in vista. I am looking more forward to Office 2007.
Vista installed and ready for testing :D in BBK.
Cheerz
But does it have the killer, most wanted feature of all, apt-get? :-)
